About the Test

Theory Test

The theory test is split into two sections, a multiple choice theory test and hazard perception. You must pass both sections at the same time and if you fail one section you will have to do both again.

The pass mark for the theory test is 43 out of 50 and you are given 57 minutes to complete this section. Some questions may ask for two or more correct answers from a selection of four.

The pass mark for the hazard perception is 44 out of 75. There is 14 clips in total.

Practical Test

At the beginning of your practical test you will be asked 2 questions from the list of show me tell me questions which can be seen on the link at the top of the page.

Your driving test will last around 40 minutes, you will be allowed no more than 15 driver errors and no serious or dangerous faults. You will be given one manoeuvre out of the following below plus maybe the emergency stop manoeuvre.

Reverse park/ bay park
Left reverse
Turn in the road

Also 10 minutes of your test will be used for the 'independent driving' section of your test. For more information click here
